Terms of Use

Effective September 18, 2026

Using OFFSCREEN

These terms apply to the OFFSCREEN iPhone app, website, and related services, operated by Joseph Vincent Acosta in California, United States. By using OFFSCREEN, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the services. How your information is handled is explained in our Privacy Policy.

You must be at least 9 years old to use OFFSCREEN. If you are a minor, have a parent or guardian review these terms with you and approve your use. Protect your account credentials and use only accounts you are entitled to access.

The app is also subject to the Apple Standard End User License Agreement. These terms do not replace that license or Apple's applicable purchase terms.

App features

OFFSCREEN provides app-blocking controls, reflection journals, progress features, and optional AI weekly reports. Some features require a compatible device, iOS permissions, internet access, or a subscription. Blocking depends on Apple's Screen Time controls and your settings, and may not always work without interruption. Keep access to services you need for emergencies.

OFFSCREEN supports personal reflection and does not provide medical diagnosis or treatment. AI reports can be inaccurate or incomplete and should not replace professional advice. No particular screen-time reduction or health outcome is guaranteed.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple handles App Store purchases. Review the price, billing period, renewal terms, and any trial or introductory offer shown in the purchase flow before confirming a purchase. Auto-renewing subscriptions continue unless canceled through Apple.

Manage or cancel subscriptions in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. If you receive a trial and do not want it to renew, follow Apple's cancellation instructions, including canceling at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Deleting the app, using Start Fresh, or disabling AI reports does not cancel a subscription. Use Restore Purchases in the app to restore eligible purchases associated with your Apple account.

Refund requests for Apple-billed purchases can be made at reportaproblem.apple.com. Eligibility depends on Apple's terms and applicable consumer protections.

Your content and privacy

You retain your rights in the journal entries, recordings, transcripts, and other content you provide. Share only content you are entitled to use, and avoid providing another person's sensitive information without permission.

When you enable AI reports, you authorize the processing of the inputs needed to provide that feature as described in the Privacy Policy. This permission is limited to providing the service and does not grant permission to publish your private reflections for advertising. You can disable future reports through the app. See the Privacy Policy for data controls and removal requests.

Acceptable use and intellectual property

Use OFFSCREEN lawfully. Do not impersonate others, access another person's information, bypass authentication or subscription checks, disrupt the services, send abusive signup requests, introduce malicious code, or violate another person's privacy or intellectual-property rights. These restrictions do not limit rights protected by applicable law.

Using OFFSCREEN does not transfer ownership of its software, branding, or website materials to you. Your app license is governed by the applicable Apple license, and your own content remains yours.

Website and external services

Joining the website waitlist requests a launch notification; it does not create a paid subscription, reserve a purchase, or guarantee a release date. Contact support to request removal from the list.

Apple, Discord, social networks, and other linked services have their own terms and privacy practices. Review those terms when using their services.

Availability and updates

Features may change or become unavailable. You may stop using OFFSCREEN at any time; manage subscriptions separately through Apple. The applicable Apple license addresses app warranties and responsibility. Nothing in these terms excludes consumer rights or responsibility that cannot legally be excluded.

We may update these terms as OFFSCREEN develops. Updated terms will appear on this page with a revised effective date, subject to any notice or consent required by applicable law.
